Curium to acquire Lantheus to become a radiopharmaceutical company of scale
Curium has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Lantheus in a deal worth up to $8 billion. Curium develops, manufactures, and supplies of radiopharmaceuticals used in diagnosing and treating cancer. The company holds patents on the compositions, formulations, purification processes, and systems and methods of use of radioactive isotope of copper (Cu-64), Cu-64 dotatate injection (Detectnet™), synthetic radioactive isotope of germanium (Ge-68), Technetium Tc-99m (metastable radioactive isotope of technetium and the most widely used medical tracer in the world) generator (Ultra-Technekow™ V4), and several other device used to generate radioisotopes. Lantheus is a leading radiopharmaceutical company specialized in making diagnostic imaging agents to “Find, Fight and Follow” disease. Its flagship products include Pylarify, a PET imaging agent to detect prostate-specific membrane antigen-positive lesions in prostate cancer, and Definity, an ultrasound contrast agent to enhance the echocardiogram image quality.
